Occupational vocational rehabilitation

Are entitled to rehabilitation those who meet all the following conditions:

  • They receive a monthly benefit.
  • They do not receive any special benefit.
  • They are expected to achieve their studies (within the usual period of studies in the field) at least two years before the mandatory retirement age (67).
  • They did not receive from the National Insurance an aid to fund a business or studies since being recognized as victims of hostile actions (i.e. they do not belong to the "rehabilitated disabled" category).
Please note that even those who have a profession or a training suitable to their situation after the hostile action may be eligible for vocational rehabilitation.

To verify whether you are entitled to rehabilitation and take up advantages, one must contact the responsible social worker of the rehabilitation service. You can also contact him through the website.

Important information!

  • Decisions concerning the approval of higher education and professional studies lie within the authority of the branches' Rehabilitation Committee. Decisions regarding rehabilitation require an eligibility and suitability evaluation process, so it is recommended that applications be submitted as early as possible.
  • The chosen field or profession must suit the disabled person's skills and medical and functional condition, as well as the options of employment in the open job market.
  • Aid is approved only for fully-fledged students in recognized institutions under governmental or public supervision in Israel (such as The Council for Higher Education concerning academic studies, and the Ministry of Labor concerning vocational training). The aid includes also preparatory studies for a matriculation certificate or a pre-academic preparatory course, if such studies are mandatory for carrying out the rehabilitation program.

Please note,

No funding will be approved for those registered for a study program at unrecognized institutes not under governmental or public supervision. Eligibility is granted for one year only. The application must be re-submitted each year, accompanied by a certificate on academic achievements.
Students who have quit their studies for reasons considered by the committee to be unreasonable are obliged to return all financial aid which they have received for their studies.

Assistance in job placement

Once you have completed your studies and vocational training, the rehabilitation officer may help you find a job in the open job market. The Rehabilitation Department works in cooperation with several job placement agencies, specializing in the integration of disabled people into the job market.
